Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to test Israel by them (that is, all who had not experienced any of the wars of Canaan; (NASB ©1995)

Judges 1:1 Now it came about after the death of Joshua that the sons of Israel inquired of the LORD, saying, "Who shall go up first for us against the Canaanites, to fight against them?"

Judges 2:21 I also will no longer drive out before them any of the nations which Joshua left when he died,

Judges 2:22 in order to test Israel by them, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk in it as their fathers did, or not." (NASB ©1995)


Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
